ABOUT ME

Picture
My Goal:
I hope to raise $600 and walk/run 70 miles (a minimum of 60 miles) in April!
My Reason:
The mission of Hope's Second Chance is important to me because I've known many people in my life that have been through different types of abusive relationships. Leaving a domestic violence situation is difficult enough without the added worry of leaving your loved pets behind. Hope's Second Chance helps to alleviate this obstacle to encourage survivors to find a safer environment.
My Plan:
I will be walking/running with my husband Brad and my dog Maverick near our home in Perrinton, MI. I have been working out at least 5 days a week for the past 2 years and I am looking forward to doing more walking and running now that the weather is warming up!

Week 1 (4/1-4/4)
How did your first week go?

It was a cold and rainy week but Maverick and I got a good start on our miles. Maverick is loving it but wants to stop and smell everything, no matter how cold it is.
What did you listen to this week?
I've been listening to a mix of music, streams, and audiobooks.
Did you see anything unique on your walks/runs?
We've seen lots and lots of water. It has been interesting seeing the changes in the streams and lakes each day.

Week one was not as warm as I'd hoped but we got a decent start on our miles, and even did a bit of jogging. Maverick is loving the walks and just sits there staring at his leash as soon as I get home from work. Walking has been a nice way to clear my head at the end of the day and I'm planning on adding in some lunchtime walks this week as well.

Thank you so much to all of my sponsors and donors! I really appreciate all the support and am grateful to be able to contribute to an important cause.

Two more weeks down and I've made it past the 40 mile mark. The weather has been a bit nicer and I've been able to take some lunchtime walks around the trail at my work, which is a great way to break up the day. Maverick is still loving all the walking, unless it starts to sprinkle on us, then he's in a rush to get home.

I am extremely thankful to all of my sponsors and donors. The amount of support I've received for this cause is more than I could have hoped for and will continue to motivate me through the final week of the fundraiser!
